I recently listened to a Pema Chödrön conversation with Tami Simon on “Compassionate Abiding” for the Sounds True’s “Insights at the Edge” series.
They discussed resilience in the time of COVID19 and protests. But I think that the discussion is something that would resonate with many survivors at any point in time.
I have read many of Pema Chödrön books and listened to her talks, all of which have contributed in their own unique way to my learning things that have aided my healing journey.
So any time I see an offering with Pema involved, I am excited to take advantage of it!
The conversation on resilience included a segment on self-compassion. Pema gave an analogy of the suffering, pain and fear we feel inside is like an big block of ice, and that the only way to change that ice to water to allow it to flow and move was to direct warmth and self-compassion to that ice and let that warmth do the work of melting it.
That was an analogy that really struck me and one that I will try to use as often as I can in the future to rouse and give myself the gift of self-compasion.
If you have not explored the Sounds True offerings, then you need to jump over there now and discover all the wonderful offerings that are available for your healing journey!
