I heard an excellent podcast recently about how our bodies store trauma and how healing cannot be complete until the body is healed from the trauma.

“Trauma and stress is not JUST something that happens in the brain, that happens in the mind.
It’s something that happens in the body.
And until our experience IN the body changes, until it changes, then we’re always gripped by the trauma.
The trauma is acting as though it is present
but we’re not able to be in the here and now because we’re the there and the then.
Until the body response can change, until experience in the body can change from helplessness and terror to mastery and expansion the person remains stuck.”

It helped me understand why yoga and Qi Gong have been such healing practices for me.
